Creative Play

Sunday was my Creative Play day this week. I attended an all day class over at Everything Scrapbook store where Ingvild Bolme all the way from Norway taught.

Ingvild showed us how to layer and distress using her new tools introduced at CKU. Her tools are amazing and already placed my name on the waiting list once they reach the stores. The distressing tool had at least 5 different tools combined into one.

We completed two projects, the first one being a Photo frame. The 1st page of the photo frame included using felts, paper flowers, canvas tag and stickers along.

The photo page we used some tape, canvas letters, paper flowers. I fell in love with the tape. See the dots. This is tape. It's a lot like scotch tape but with prints on them. So cool!

Here is a little closer up.

The second project for the day was a Memories layout. We used a lot of the same techniques and tools we learned in the first class but this time we spent more time using her exacto knife cutting out the fine details of flowers and butterflies.

A truly stunning page...

Here is a closer look at some of the details.

Well weekend over and back to the work week...

Creative Play

It was my husband and girl friends birthday this weekend so I went into my room to wrap presents and realized I didn't have a card for my friend. I started to take out some stamps to make her a card. Then it hit me, do something different for her card this year. I had marked a page in my Somerset Sew magazine about making birthday cards with fabric.

Why not give it a try?

So I dragged out my vintage lace, buttons and fabric and began to just sew pieces and scraps together. It took me no time to create and came out perfect!

I can't wait to give it to her. She is going to love it.

Unique and special, a one of a kind card!

Here is the front....

Inside the card....

and the mess left behind that is waiting for me to clean up...

or start another?

Friday Check in - Week 3

Week 3:

Wow, what a horrible week. The only habit I followed was Habit 1 - Exercise. I was so busy so the only water I got in was during exercise. As for sweets - YES I ate some. The said part was that it wasn't that good, well my daughters cake for her dad was but the one at work. YUK! I can't figure out why I had two pieces? Oh yeah, stress and I was trying to avoid work and thought maybe the cake would make it all better. WRONG! I so need to learn that some how, some way!! Habit 3 I'd say was my biggest problem this week. Scale - well no change. Guess that's what I get for eating Cake!

Ready for another week and shooting for some changes!

Sister's Weekend of SHE ART

This past 4th of July weekend was the best, because I was able to spend it with my two sisters who were in town. We spent the weekend making SHE ART and had a great time.

Aren't they great?

My daughter who has been watching me from a distance and wanting me to make her one joined us after day 2. She wanted to make a hipper SHE so she designed her own dress. She says that her 1st SHE was better then mine.
What's with? I loved my 1st SHE girl!

We had so much fun making fun of each others girls along with offering some advice. Big sis loved the bangs and big hair. Here is her 2nd SHE.

This was my week two girls where I tried some of the new style dresses Christy teaches in her videos.

Thanks sisters for spending the weekend with me. Can't wait till we get together again!

Friday Check in

30 Minute Movement - Week 1

Habit 1: Move for 30 minutes - I did great in this habit. I was able to walk, bike, zumba and swim this week every single day. Had to walk in the rain with my umbrella one night and that is only because that morning I went to the gym at 5am, but I must have been still sleeping when I left because when I got to the gym (30 minutes away from home) when I realized I had forgot my work close and was in my PJ's. Scary but funny! So I had to get back in my car and drive 30 minutes back home to get dress and return to work. So instead of an early morning workout, it ended the day with a 30 minute walk in the rain. FUN!

Habit 2: Drink Water - Didn't do that great in the water area this week. Probably had about 3 glasses a day. Need to focus on this. It is really hard to keep water with me at work when I am running from meeting to meeting.

Habit 3: Limit the sweet cravings - well I had lots of sweet craving, and managed to give into some days. But my biggest success in this area came when my sweet little nephew from Georgia came in for the weekend to visit us. I had to ask him what he wanted from the Grocery store since I was running their before he came in. Little did I realize he was going to ask for the one thing that is a major weakness for me and that is Ice Cream, especially Caravel cake. Oh how I love those crumbles! Any way he got his cake and I resisted a slice, but secretly made my way to steal spoonful taste. I remember the ONE BITE RULE and stuck to it!

Habit 4: Stop Picking - So this one still not doing a good job at. You know it's a hard one for me. I just seem to have to clean every one's plate. Just hate to throw away that last french fry or piece of stake in the trash left on kids plate. Man I really need to walk away from the table and those left overs laying around. Work also makes it challenging when we fill up the food cube with goodies. Think I need to find another route and not pass that booth. I will try better next week.

Habit 5: Don't skip snacks - OK, I failed at this one too. Was good for a few days, but then the week got crazy at work and I before I knew it mid-morning was lunch time. I really need to figure out a way to bring my snacks to these back to back meetings. Any suggestions?

Scheduled meeting with nutritionist next week so hoping I can start seeing some improvements in my pants. They really need to stop shrinking, I just hate when they get so tight around the waist!

Check back in with me next week to see my progress!

Announcing my 30 minute Movement

It's time to get my butt in gear and start moving. Exams, homework, vacation is over, so I have no more excuses for carrying around the extra 20 pounds I have let tag along with me these last few months. I am making this commitment to myself to stop adding pound,s but lightening my load. Uhmmm, that can be applied in more ways then one :).

So today July 1st, I am going to kick into gear and try something new - A 30 Minute a Day Movement commitment to myself. Do able SURE!!!!

As part of this movement I made a list of reminders to follow during this time. These are to keep me in check and hope to change some life long habits that need to be worked on. I know it's some of these bad habits that adds to the extra pounds that like to tag along for the ride with me. I decided no more free rides, I am not a bus.

It's time to live a fit/healthier lifestyle that focuses on me, so I can be as healthy as I can for me and my family.

Here is my list and I am ready to move...

So wish me luck, or better yet join me,
